The Graduate Richmond is located at 301 Franklin St. just a few blocks away from VCU. It has a community work space, a full bar and cafe, and a rooftop pool. Richmond is really loving their new rooftop hangouts and this one will be busy during the warmer months. The Byrd House rooftop bar will serve cocktails and bar snacks, as well as have an unobstructed view of Richmond.
The hotel lobby and the Brookfield cafe’s decor has notes of Arthur Ashe’s legacy, with tennis balls, green carpeting, and perfectly styled coffee table books.
The decor is playful, witty, and stylish. As you walk near the elevators check out the carpet. The words seem hard to read until you look up at the mirrored ceiling where it all becomes clear. There is a neon sign with a phone number, when you call it you will hear a recording of punk music. There is even corduroy wallpaper.
The guest rooms are decorated with punk music references, plaid patterns, and framed pictures of American Foxhounds. American Foxhounds are the official dog of Virginia. There are suites that even have bunkbeds for when your family and guests come into town.
If you are to have an event here there are a few options. You can host your cocktail hour in the downstairs lobby and use the cafe bar, you can host your party on the roof, or you can use one of the meeting rooms throughout the hotel. The banquet room is the largest room. The tables in the banquet room don’t require linens. In an effort to reduce their environmental footprint, The Graduate, decided to keep things simple and modern. The chandeliers in the room are are made out of paperclips. They have other chandeliers throughout the space that you can hang your own personalized notes on. Such a fun idea if you have photos, love notes, or you guests write something in.
For weddings this space would work for a smaller guest count, a welcome party, brunch, and definitely somewhere to book room blocks. This space is best suited for seminars, educational events, and corporate meetings.
