Located on the wharf, guests can enjoy river views, walk along the water, and enjoy cocktails and open-air dining on the terrace.
We recommend ilili to couples who want a food-focused celebration, whether that be your rehearsal dinner or welcome party. This space is known for its contemporary design and architectural detail. Here, restraint is key. Simple decor items, like bar signs, customized menu cards, and escort displays, will help personalize the space without overwhelming it.
Guest counts can vary depending on the space you reserve. To take advantage of the chef’s menu, you must have eight or more guests in your party. If you’re planning something larger, a partial buyout allows you to host up to 80 guests for a seated event and up to 95 standing. A full buyout offers the most privacy and can accommodate up to 195 guests for a seated dinner or 270 guests for a cocktail-style event.
DC restaurant buyouts require a different approach than traditional venues, and this is especially true of ilili. Existing furniture layouts may limit floorplan flexibility, but if discussed beforehand, a dance floor can be incorporated. We would lean into monochromatic floral moments, editorial candle grouping, and custom menu design and paper goods. Imperfecto already has a strong presence, so we would want to build upon it rather than transform it.
Quadrant Bar & Lounge
Located inside the historic The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Quadrant Bar & Lounge feels sophisticated, intimate, and quietly luxurious. As one of the most polished hotel-adjacent restaurants, it works particularly well for wedding weekends when guests are already staying at the Ritz-Carlton. This allows any event here to feel seamless and connected.
With warm woods, rich leather, fireplaces, and intimate lighting, Quadrant feels more like a private club than a trendy restaurant. This makes it ideal for rehearsal or family dinners, or even a cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception if hosted at the Ritz. Because it operates within a luxury hotel, coordination with hotel room blocks and guest arrivals can create an exceptionally smooth experience. This convenience factor is often underestimated.
As planners with a keen eye for design, we would approach decorating Quadrant with subtlety and precision. We’d lean into candle-heavy tablescapes, monochromatic florals, private whiskey tastings, and refined escort displays. Here, everything is about hospitality, rather than spectacle. This is a restaurant that will allow you and your guests to soak in the experience, embrace the unique elements and French-inspired food, and relive the memories every day after.
Saga
Saga is one of the most versatile private dining venues for DC restaurant buyouts. While some restaurants have a very specific personality or event type they naturally cater toward, Saga works well for a wide range of celebrations. You can easily host intimate birthday dinners and engagement parties to corporate gatherings, rehearsal dinners, and private social events with up to 80 guests.
As part of the Seven Reasons Group, Saga focuses on hospitality, approachable luxury, and a dining experience designed to bring people together. The menu blends Spanish influences with Latin American flavors, creating a dining experience that feels both familiar and distinctive. Shareable dishes, seafood, rice dishes, and thoughtfully prepared seasonal offerings make it well-suited for group dining.
The atmosphere feels polished without being formal, making it a comfortable fit for groups with varying ages, interests, and expectations. It is best suited for engagement parties, rehearsal or welcome dinners, and farewell brunches, though it is not ideal for events centered around dancing or entertainment.
Iron Gate
Iron Gate is one of the most frequently requested restaurant venues in DC for intimate celebrations. It offers a setting that feels personal, comfortable, and tucked away from the pace of the city. The venue is divided into several distinct spaces rather than one large event room.
The Indoor Dining Room accommodates up to 45 seated guests or 50 standing guests and features an open kitchen and wood-burning fireplace. Outside, the Garden Patio can accommodate up to 50 seated guests or 65 standing guests, while the more private Side Courtyard accommodates up to 24 guests seated or 35 guests standing. For larger events, the indoor and outdoor spaces can be combined as part of a partial or full buyout.

It creates a setting that feels removed from the city despite being located in the heart of Dupont Circle.
Inside, the dining room offers a completely different experience. During the winter months, the space feels particularly inviting thanks to its wood-burning fireplace, open kitchen, and smaller scale. In the summer, it provides a welcome retreat from D.C.’s heat and humidity while maintaining the same relaxed atmosphere.
If you want a DC restaurant with distinct character and an atmosphere made for mingling, Iron Gate is a great option for rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, and smaller wedding celebrations that feel relaxed and unhurried.
La Grande Boucherie
While DC restaurant buyouts are often best suited for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and intimate celebrations, La Grande Boucherie is one of the few restaurant venues that can host an entire event from start to finish. If you love the energy and hospitality of a restaurant but don’t want to sacrifice the flow of a traditional event, this space offers a compelling option. Guests can arrive for a ceremony, transition into cocktails, enjoy dinner, and continue celebrating without ever leaving the venue.
La Grande Boucherie feels grand in a way that few restaurant venues do. The soaring ceilings, dramatic architecture, and Parisian-inspired interiors create an immediate sense of occasion. While many restaurant venues feel intimate or neighborhood-oriented, this space feels celebratory. Here, the dining experience is part of the entertainment. Guests are not simply attending an event at a restaurant. They are enjoying one of the restaurant’s defining strengths: exceptional food and hospitality. The menu is rooted in classic French brasserie cuisine, with offerings that range from seafood towers and fresh oysters to steak frites and other French favorites.
Another benefit of planning a wedding weekend here is the capacity. La Grande Boucherie can host up to 500 guests. From our planning perspective, this creates opportunities to design distinct experiences throughout the event while maintaining a cohesive flow. The ceremony can become a focal point within the dining room before cocktails on the mezzanine and dinner.
To top it all off, La Grande Boucherie has such a strong architectural presence. The architecture and interiors create a beautiful foundation, while giving us plenty of room for thoughtful design. As design-forward planners, we would take the opportunity to design in conversation with the space. Depending on the event, that could mean creating a dramatic ceremony installation beneath the central dining room, layering in florals and candlelight to shape the guest experience, or incorporating custom paper goods and tabletop details that reinforce the overall vision.
Surreal
If the grandness of La Grande Boucherie doesn’t match your vision, you may love the less traditional atmosphere of Surreal. While it may not be able to host an entire wedding celebration, it provides a unique backdrop for social gatherings designed to bring people together and create conversation.
Surreal has a creative, contemporary feel that sets it apart from many traditional restaurant event spaces. The atmosphere is energetic and social without feeling overly formal. This is one of the few DC restaurant buyouts where we would encourage couples to have fun with the design, embracing bold floral palettes, playful tabletop details, creative cocktail presentations, and interactive guest experiences. Rather than trying to force it into a formal wedding venue or heavily produced event space, we’d recommend leaning into its strengths: good food, good drinks, interesting surroundings, and an atmosphere that encourages guests to interact.
If you want to buy out the entire restaurant, you can host up to 140 guests for a seated event and up to 200 for a reception-style event. But if you’re hosting something more intimate, Surreal offers several private room options, depending on your vision. The Red Room can host up to 22 guests, and the Green Room can host up to 40.
