This year, I had the opportunity to collaborate with The Hamilton Hotel to create a fun, retro pop-up bar for Pride Month in Washington, DC. The “Totally Radical” theme took guests back to the 80s and 90s, starting with a TV-shaped entryway that led them into a nostalgic experience.
Throwback Design Meets Pride Celebration
Inside, neon lighting, slinkies, and 80s memorabilia set the tone for a fun and Pride-filled celebration. We brought nostalgic touches with high-tops in bold 80s patterns, walls decorated with classic throwback elements, and a centerpiece bar designed to look like an oversized retro boombox. The bar staff served signature cocktails in rainbow colors, perfectly reflecting the spirit of Pride.
Instagram-Worthy Photo Moments
We created two social media worthy photo opportunities: one with an MTV astronaut holding a PRIDE POP flag, and another featuring a vintage yellow chair with color-blocked backdrops. These ops were an instant hit for guests to capture and share their Pride memories.
Prime Location Along the Pride Parade Route
Located along the parade route, The Hamilton Hotel’s pop-up bar became a lively hub for parade attendees. As the celebration marched through the streets, the “Totally Radical” bar offered a welcoming space to celebrate love, diversity, and the vibrant DC community.
