The bride Tara, is a photographer and a blogger. When Nicole from Stag and Lily called me and told me she was planning Tara and Stephens wedding I knew it was going to be right out of a dream. Tara has such a unique style and Nicole does a great job with bohemian inspired weddings. Throw in an A team of vendors and an amazing photographer and you’ve got it made.
I have a large collection of vintage, eclectic, and unique pieces that I use for styled shoots and that I allow my couples to use for their weddings. Nicole sent over an inspiration board and we started pulling pieces. We loaded up the van full of peacock chairs, Mexican barrel chairs, cow hides, sherpa furs, drums, tables, mirrors, a teak screen, and anything else we thought might work. Tara’s father in law handmade several benches for the ceremony and a large structure to hang macrame from behind the donut display. (The structure is now in the chasing unicorns inventory. Thanks guys.) Tara made a bunting and their family strung up some lights. Working with Stag and Lily and all of the Richmond vendors on this wedding was such a fun time.
Tori Watson is an outstanding photographer but is also one of Tara and Stephens good friends. This wedding was nothing short of a community that came together and made magic. All of the vendors are friends, their styles aligned perfectly, their professionalism is unmatched, and the love everyone had for this couple was real. I will also say that this group of guests were the most fashionable group of people. There wasn’t a basic shoe, boring accessory, or hair out of place in sight.
I am a huge advocate for collaborating and working with other planners in order to best serve our clients. I truly believe that it takes a community to get to the top, and that our couples deserve the very best day possible. Nicole was the planner on this wedding. She organized the teams, ran the logistics, and set up the style boards. I came in on the day as a second lead, assisted Nicole, helped with the styling and decor, and of course brought in all of our furniture. When working with other planners everyone benefits. I always learn something new from the planners I am working with, and I hope they learn something from me. This collaborative effort is the best way to build vendor relationships, expand your abilities, gain experience, and it’s our couples who get the most out of our combined years of experience.
