10.  You don’t have the time.  The average wedding takes about 200 hours to plan.  Most of the time it takes up to 300-400 hours since you will spend extra hours vetting out vendors, sourcing your rentals, and orchestrating everything.  There are a ton of people to hire. It takes time to find them and get everything in order.  It’s a full time job. A  professional wedding planner can get this done in half the time. This allows you to still work your real full time job, spend time with your people, and have a social life.

9.  You may be able to save money.  Wedding planners send vendors repeat business.  The good ones know the margins on catering and hotels.  Your planner will know a fair price and may be able to negotiate on your behalf.  At the very least they will know the best vendors for your style, personality, and budget.  You won’t have to worry about booking a vendor that is out of your price range simply because you didn’t know any better.

8. Do you REALLY want to deal with high stress situations with your mom, aunt, cousin, best friend?  Having too many cooks in the kitchen, especially family, can get in the way of so many things. It causes stress on relationships. When you start taking into account other opinions it will feel like you are compromising. Your special day becomes less of your wedding and more of someone else’s. Besides, your friends and family should be able to enjoy your wedding day too.

7. You need help making your vision a reality.  If you aren’t inundated in the wedding and design industry there is no way for you to know what is up and coming and what is available. You want your wedding to reflect you as a couple, not just a copy of something you saw on Pinterest.  If it is on Pinterest it has been done. . . a lot.

6.   Wedding planning isn’t just cake and peonies.  There are contracts, budgets, timelines, spreadsheets, etc.   There are a million moving parts and some of them aren’t that much fun.  Spend your time with your fiancé, your friends and family, and leave the nitty gritty to a pro.

5.  Who is going to set up your event space and confirm that all of the items you ordered have been delivered?  While you, your family, and your wedding party are getting ready there is a wedding to set up.  Vendors are only responsible for their part.  Most of the time the team who drops off your rentals are not the same people you spoke with during the booking process.  If there is a stained linen, a broken chair, or a missing bouquet your wedding planner will fix it before the event even starts.

4.  Etiquette. Most people have never planned a wedding before, or an event as formal as a wedding.  There are several etiquette expectations that go along with weddings, and a professional event planner will guide you through them.  There is nothing worse than a black tie event with etiquette faux pas.

3.   Is that vendor any good?  This is really terrifying.  With websites being so easy to build, and social media so popular, it is almost impossible to know if a vendor is really a professional.  Having a wedding planner in your corner will let you know who to book with and who to steer clear of. You don’t want to find out on your wedding day that your hired vendor was less than professional.

2.  What happens at the end of the night?  If you do not hire a wedding planner you, your family, and your friends are stuck collecting gifts, personal items, rentals, etc. at the end of the night.  This prevents your family from truly enjoying the event.  When you hire a wedding planner your family can dance the night away knowing that everything will be taken care of.

1. You should be 100% present on your wedding day.  You shouldn’t be standing at the altar of your church wondering if your reception site is set up.  When something goes wrong, because it will, you shouldn’t be the one having to fix it.  Your wedding planner will run a tight ship behind the scenes to ensure that you have a seamless, stress free wedding day.
