An outdoor wedding under bistro lights.  That is what bride, Krista, wanted.  This was the number one, had to happen request.  This wedding was supposed to take place at a private residence on Lake Anna.  It was going to be outside, under the lights, and on the lake.  It was going to be easy, a little rustic, and full of fun. That was until we had our site tour. I met Krista and Jesse at the private residence on the lake and I knew immediately why they chose this location.  Their whole family could stay on site, the lake was gorgeous, it had a cove of trees for the ceremony location, it was really very pretty.  Standing on the back deck looking over the lake everything looked perfect. However, I was there to do a site tour.  To look at the logistics, to make sure that this venue would actually work for a wedding.  I walked around the grounds checking all of the things I check.  As I started walking towards the lake, I noticed the lawn started to develop a bit of an incline.   When I made it down to the lake and looked back at the house my heart just sank.  The lawn that looked so flat from the house, was probably a 30 degree incline towards the lake.  We couldn’t set up a wedding here.  I trekked back up the property to where Krista and Jesse were standing and told them the news.  We needed a new venue, and fast as their date was quickly approaching.

A few hundred phone calls later, a second site tour, and some revised design plans we had our new wedding venue.  Krista and Jesse were going to get married at Greenock Manor, a bed and breakfast right outside of Charlottesville, Virginia.  The lawn was large and flat, her family and friends could stay on site, and the venue assured us we could put up the bistro lights.  We reworked the design plan to include more of a garden party feel, called in some of the local vendors, and got everything set up just right.  Krista was a gorgeous bride, Jesse was a handsome groom, and their daughter, Emilia, was the cutest flower girl.  The guests dined and danced under the bistro lights all night long.  This was truly a wedding we won’t ever forget.  Anna Bowser was the photographer and she did an amazing job capturing the essence of their event.
