We ask our clients and vendors countless questions throughout the planning process—so we thought it was time to start answering a few of them ourselves.

We are sharing a fun Q & A, and some photos taken by Kir Tuben and Kenzie Flinchum.

LAUREN PURCELL

TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Owner, Lead Designer, & Planner of Swoon Soiree.

I love to travel. I have been to several countries, but I have never been to an Asia, Africa, or the Middle East. I have always wanted to spend some time in Morocco. One of the trips on our list is Madrid, Lisbon, and Morocco. I would love to spend some time some time at the Souk, ride a camel, and explore everything the country has to offer.

I’m always seeking to refine my understanding of what makes an event truly unforgettable. Whether it’s discovering new creative collaborations, exploring global design trends, or anticipating the smallest details before they’re even needed, I’m driven by the pursuit of excellence. For me, it’s about crafting moments that feel effortless but are executed with precision, allowing every celebration to feel both personal and timeless.

I have three children—two boys and a girl—so much of my free time is spent with them and my husband, creating meaningful moments together. When I’m not with my family, I love attending shows and events of all kinds, watching films, traveling, shopping, and curating our home’s décor, often finding inspiration in flea markets and fashion shows.

I’ve also been fortunate to maintain lifelong friendships with a close-knit group of women I’ve known since middle school. Though we now live across the country, we stay connected through girls’ trips, brunches, nights out, and a never-ending group text that keeps us close despite the miles.

Anywhere that offers the chance to explore. I’m drawn to discovering new cultures, experiencing something unexpected, and immersing myself in the history and stories of a place. While I appreciate a beautiful view, I’m not one to lounge on a beach for a week—I prefer destinations that inspire curiosity, adventure, and meaningful connections.

Fall is, without question, my favorite season. I’m drawn to the rich textures, layered styles, and, of course, the perfect boots. I’ll always choose crisp, cool weather over heat—fall strikes that perfect balance of chilly but not freezing. There’s also an energy to the season that I love: people are out enjoying the shift in weather, businesses are gearing up for the holidays, and the best shows and movies start to premiere. That said, I also love the fresh, vibrant colors of spring and summer—there’s something bold and inspiring about their happiness and vibrancy.

Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday—yes, it might be cliché for a wedding and event planner, but I genuinely love celebrating the people who matter most. It’s a day full of bold color, playful details, and, of course, plenty of pink

I love the process of transforming an empty space into a meaningful celebration. No matter how many weddings I’ve planned or spaces I’ve brought to life, there’s always something magical about creating ephemeral moments—those fleeting experiences that leave a lasting impression long after the celebration ends. Designing atmospheres that become part of someone’s personal history is both an honor and a responsibility I take seriously. What drives me are those final moments when every detail comes together flawlessly—the months of planning crystallizing into something unforgettable. Seeing a couple fully present in their joy, surrounded by friends and family immersed in the experience, is what makes every effort worth it.

Stay true to yourselves and your relationship. It’s easy to get swept up in the noise of wedding trends, traditions, and endless inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram. While there’s nothing wrong with honoring tradition if it resonates with you, remember that this day is about celebrating your connection in a way that feels authentic to both of you. Prioritize what matters most and create a celebration that reflects your unique story—whether that means embracing timeless customs or starting new ones of your own.

If any other questions come to mind or there’s anything else you’d like to know, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
