When we think about Southern charm, we picture The Dunlin. Bathed in soft, Lowcountry pastels, the palette feels considered but never overly precious. There’s a lightness to it. A quiet sense of ease. Walking in feels like returning to a summer home you know well, but seeing it through a slightly different lens. Familiar, but slightly reimagined.
Enjoy the wrap-around porches, airy verandas, and cottage-style guest suites. Explore the surrounding areas by wandering through oak-lined paths, renting bicycles to explore the riverside, or taking the venue’s adorable shuttle to nearby shops.

Planning a Wedding Weekend at The Dunlin
Why settle for a single day when your wedding can span the entire weekend? With 72 guest rooms, you and your guests could enjoy a luxurious weekend escape while enjoying your wedding festivities. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or live in the surrounding areas, your weekend logistics will dictate your guest experience. As your planners, we consider transportation, guest room blocks, dining experiences, and weather contingencies. In this part of South Carolina, humidity, heat, and pop-up rainstorms are common. Working with an experienced planner can mitigate the stress of changing plans mid-celebration and navigating local restrictions, since The Dunlin is a community space, unless you buy out the property completely.
Finding Your Perfect Space
The Dunlin is home to many beautiful locations. Choosing the best one for your celebration requires a strong vision, clarity, and logistical prowess. For more intimate celebrations, we recommend a ceremony on the Riverbank Lawn or Lower Riverbank Lawn, with a reception in the Limehouse Barn. Intimate weddings with fewer than 75 guests are available on Sundays throughout the season.
For larger events, we highly recommend the Shippon. This stunning space is an architectural beauty with high ceilings, wooden beams, and large open windows. The Shippon can be styled in many different ways to accommodate every wedding style. Nearby, the Lime House is another great option for large guest counts, welcome parties, or after-parties.
The Riverbank lies in front of each of these properties. The spacious lawn can be transformed into a tented reception space or serve as an open-air cocktail hour overlooking the Kiawah River. The beautiful marsh views and live oak trees hanging with Spanish Moss create a quintessential Lowcountry experience.
