Wedding Venue in Loudon County Virginia, right outside of Washington DC
Goodstone Inn is a beautiful escape about an hour outside of Washington DC. This wedding venue is located on 265 acres of rolling hills, in the heart of Virginia’s horse and wine country. With its exclusive access, you can reserve the venue for the entire weekend for your guests. Having everyone on site will give you time to spend with your friends and family who have traveled, and sneak in a little downtime before the wedding.
Having your wedding venue close to Washington DC is convenient for your friends and family who can drive out of the city, those who are flying in, and those who are wanting to spend an extended weekend touring the city before or after your wedding. If your guests are local to DC, they will appreciate all of the things that Goodstone Inn has to offer. There are several activities you can reserve such as yoga, ax throwing, skeet shooting, cooking classes, and hot air balloon rides. There is a spa on-site for those who prefer relaxation and an array of outdoor leisure activities such as swimming, hiking, walking, and their famous fire pits. If you are out here in the winter, you may even have the option of renting an igloo for your party.
They do offer on-site lodging and have an amazing farm to table restaurant. This is a great option for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, of course, your main event, and even the farewell brunch the next morning. If you are planning on having your event at Goodstone Inn, be aware that it is mostly outdoors. There is a small interior space that can be utilized for dining, and there is a great cellar, but for the most part, you are outside. This does require that you reserve tenting and a planning team that is proficient in tented weddings.
Tented weddings are one of our favorite things to produce, as everything can be customized. They do require a certain budget, and definitely an experienced team, but the outcome can be beautiful. Goodstone Inn has several different locations where the tent can be set up and there isn’t one bad option. The views are gorgeous from all sides, and it is in close proximity to the pool, which is a great location for cocktail hour. We usually see the ceremony take place outside of the ivy-covered ruins, cocktail hour around the pool, and reception in the tented area.
If you are looking for a micro-wedding location in Northern Virginia or DC this is another great option. They do offer adjusted pricing for smaller events, and there are several courtyards and areas on the property that would feel just right for a more intimate event. They also have a second location on the property. This house is a little way down the road, but it is on a hill and has gorgeous views as well. Ceremony at this location can happen in front of the house, on the lawn, or even inside. If your guest count is small enough you can host your whole event in the house for an intimate experience.
