An Iconic Wedding Venue in Charlottesville Virginia

The mountains, vineyards, rolling hills, and exemplary service is what you will find at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Pippin Hill is an all-season, full-service venue designed to offer the essential elements of successful, effortless entertainment.  The venue is owned and designed by a top-rated event planner.  Having an event planner at the helm of this venue is most noticeable.  There isn’t a touchpoint that doesn’t make sense.  From the flow of the venue to the layout and the colors to the level of service offered, you will want for nothing.  This is a venue where your guests will have a great experience, you will be relaxed and catered to, and your photographer and vendor team will be able to deliver their best work.

I believe what sets Pippin Hill apart from most other venues, is their level of service.  I have worked in many venues in many different areas.  There are a few things, that clients don’t see, that will change the entire experience of their event.  This is the service.  Guests will remember bad service and they will remember good service.  That area in between tends to blend in with everything else.  What you are paying for at Pippin Hill is of course the gorgeous views, the namesake, but it is the food and the service. This is something that cannot be replicated and that will take your event to the next level.

Pippin Hill creates its signature boutique wines that are then paired with their farm-to-table menu.  Their menu items are local, fresh, seasonal, and sourced through a local food movement with regional producers and artisans. This creates an experience that can only be had at this venue.  Couples travel from all over the country to experience the relaxed elegance and culinary journey.

The Details:

Getting Ready:

Couples will be pleasantly surprised when they tour the getting ready suites.  The Bridal Loft is bright and airy.  There are lots of plush seating, large mirrors, an area for the makeup artists, and windows overlooking the hydrangea path.  The suite is complete with wardrobes, and a large steamer. For the curious bride, she can look over the loft and check in on the reception set up.  If she prefers privacy, or to have a grand reveal, the drapes can always be pulled.

The groom’s party will typically take their group down to the wine cellar.  Here the gentlemen have a lounge, a large table for games or lunch, and a large screen TV. Yes, the TV does get all of the channels and you can watch the game.  There is also full internet access.

Ceremony:

There are three main options for the ceremony. The Main Lawn is an ideal location for guest counts of under 140.  If your guest’s count exceeds 140 guests, the vineyard lawn will be a better fit.  Both of these ceremony sites are within walking distance from the hydrangea path, cocktail hour, and have the infamous mountain views that make this location so beautiful.

The third ceremony location is the Veranda.  This area can be used as the original ceremony location or it can be used in the event of inclement weather.  This area makes a gorgeous winter wedding location. You can still enjoy all of the snow-covered mountains while staying dry and warm.

Cocktail Hour:

If your ceremony is on the lawn, once the ceremony has concluded, your guests will be invited to the Veranda for cocktail hour.   They will be able to walk the lawns and enjoy the views.  If you had your ceremony on the Veranda, your guests would then be invited to The Tasting Room.  The Tasting Room is a wonderful location for cocktail hour, overflow space, and an additional bar.

Reception:

The reception will take place in The Granary.  This room will seat 200 guests, with room for a dance floor. This space was built for entertainment. Some of the special features include sound-control drapery, band/DJ specific power, ambient lighting, and all-season temperature control. The venue has been designed to maximize spring and summer’s open-air freshness and fall and winter’s crisp light and a cozy warmth.  This space is built to showcase Virginia’s agrarian history and Pippin Hill’s farm-to-table culinary experience.  With its vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and hardwood floors, this is the perfect neutral background.

Pippin Hill is located a short, 20-minute drive, from Charlottesville, Virginia.  It is recommended to book a hotel block in the city and provide transportation for your guests.  This will ensure your guests arrive on time and will make it back to their hotel safely at the end of the evening.

Pippin Hill is a great location for weddings.  In addition to weddings, it is also open to the public.  It is a working winery and restaurant.  The various spaces can be rented out for private and corporate events. This would be a great location for lunch with friends and wedding-related events.
